A whip or a whisk is a cooking utensil used in food preparation to blend ingredients smooth, or to incorporate air into a mixture in a process known as whipping. With the exception of a few, most whips are constructed of a long, narrow handle with a series of wire loops joined at the end. There are several different styles of whips for various purposes. The most common type of whip is a balloon whip, which has a tear drop shape to better fit mixing bowls. A French whip has a more cylindrical shape for more effective use with deep straight sided bowls. For shallow vessels such as a skillet, a flat whip would be the most effective. A gravy whip has one single loop with a wire spiraled around it. Add some whips from Jean's to your kitchen supplies.
